Beaver Island is an amazing place to visit because there are many activities for adults and for kids. This makes it a great place for families to visit. Specifically, kids can play sports, sail, bike, and go shopping. Pretty fun, right? I hope you visit one day.

about 32 miles long. It was formed 11 thousand years ago, after the ice age. The Ottawa Indians came to the island about 300 years ago. Traders and trappers came in the 1800s. James Strang, who was involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, moved with his Mormon followers to the island in 1844. The Mormons had a small fight with the other residents, called “The War of Whiskey Point.” The number of Mormons became so large that James Strang was elected to the State Legislature. He also named himself king of the island. The Mormons cut down trees and built roads and homes. James Strang was killed in 1856. The island later became a very important fishing and logging center and most residents were Irish.

The cost for fishing and fireworks on the 4th of July are free. It is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Mostly people visit Beaver Island in the summer because it is hot. Beaver Island has a lot of activities including golf, boating, shops, camping and fishing. Beaver Island is an amazing place.
